When we heard Frank Lampard had run over a little boy's bike, we instantly envisaged him reversing relentlessly back and forth over Wayne Rooney's BMX in vicious anger with the theme tune to The One Show playing in the background on the car stereo.

Alas, the reality was a bit different to that of our twisted imagination. The reality was a heart-warming tale of a footballer's guilt and generosity...

We'll leave it to Frank's agent, Steve Kutner to depict the story:

"He saw the bike in his mirror and was sure he'd run the boy over. Frank checked the lad was OK and asked how much the bike cost.

 

The boy said it was worth £100, so Frank gave him £200 in cash. It was the least he could do. If anything Frank was more upset than the boy."

What a gent.
